Ezoic Customer Week Is On The Way

As some of you may know, I’ve been working closely with Ezoic on a few things and they have something pretty big coming up soon.

It’s called Customer Week and things kick off on September 13th and go on through the 17th.

  1. Hi Shawna,

With all due respect, Ezoic should stop wasting their time on promotional stunts like these and just level up to their display ad network competitors.

I’ve recently been accepted (not hard to do anymore since they’ve dropped their traffic requirements) and I found their onboarding process so cumbersome, I’ve literally put it on hold. I’m actually doing pretty well with one affiliate and I don’t want to screw that up with Ezoic’s shenanigans.

On top of their cumbersome onboarding, the fact that I have to redirect my name servers from my current hosting plan (which I already pay for) to theirs is bizarre.

But the most bizarre thing about Ezoic is their “shady” business model. Expecting publishers to make monthly payments to various premium levels (and higher payments with each level) so they could get access to “premium advertisers” is a bit dishonest. No other premium ad network does these things.

It seems that instead of fixing these obvious issues, Ezoic prefers to offer affiliates enough commissions to have them do all kinds of promotions for them (like this post) YouTube videos from those in this sphere, customer weeks and all other kinds of nonsense.

Anyway, I didn’t mean to rain on this parade. I always find your content honest and informative, which is why I keep coming back. Not to say you haven’t been straight about Ezoic in the past, you have.

In fact, you do have a few posts about Ezoic and their issues, which I’ve always appreciated. Thanks again for your continued contributions in our niche website community.

    All the best!

    • Hey Dave,
No worries. It’s no secret that I’ve had my grievances with them. I still don’t like that they make people pay for Premium just to get better RPMs. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen them mention how much of the revenue you get without premium. Mediavine starts at 75% and you can increase that up to 80%. And AdThrive also seems to be 75% – but don’t think I’ve ever seen what Ezoic’s share is.

But I am happy about some of the changes they’ve made, like replacing the paid Site Speed Accelerator with the free Leap.

They are going to be announcing some big stuff next week, and I’m curious to see how it plays out in the long term. But regardless, they still remain the best option for people who don’t have enough traffic for Mediavine. Or, I guess I should say most people? I know a lot of people prefer to stick with AdSense or nothing instead of dealing with the site speed issues that come with Ezoic’s ads.

Oh – and you don’t have to switch your DNS to them, they just recommend it. I use my own Cloudflare to integrate, which works well. But you’re right – Mediavine and AdThrive don’t require any DNS changes.

    • I wouldn’t call it “shady” as there are some truly questionable options out there. However, it does leave a bad taste in EVERYONE’s mouth. And, until they ditch Premium and EPMV, they will always be in 3rd place behind Mediavine and Ad Thrive. Still, maybe that is what they want … it is a service level that needs to be catered to and going head-to-head with Mediavine and Adthrive would be no easy task. I wonder which of the three companies generates the most income overall …
