Ezoic Earnings: May 2023 Niche Site Income Report

Heya, it’s that time again!

As mentioned when I started these monthly updates, I’m publishing these new income reports on the last day of each month to get fresh data your way.

Plus, it helps keep me accountable to you…because we all know that I will procrastinate on getting these written up.

Also, I want to remind you that these Ezoic sites of mine are smaller sites, which means these monthly updates should be easier for new site builders to follow along with (as well as those of you who are building sites with limited time).

For May, I did remove one site from Ezoic to see if earnings are better with AdSense.

Note: The sites in this report are only a portion of my portfolio and not the only sites that bring in revenue.

**And as always, I’m an affiliate marketer and this post contains affiliate links, meaning I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my link.

Site 1: Food/Drink Niche

For May, I only got up three new posts on this site, all of them affiliate focused.

I didn’t want to put tons of work into this site for the month since the traffic is down and I’m still just kinda waiting that out to determine what my next move is here.

Anyways, the affiliate content is using high converting Lasso product boxes.

And I used Scalenut (use code FOREVER20 to save 20% after the free trial!) to optimize these articles after they’re published. You can also use something like Frase for this.

As I just mentioned, most things are down with this site still.

site 1 may ezoic

Traffic has really been up and down for this site, which you can likely tell based on the earnings graph above.

I know there’s rumblings of a Google update showing signs of starting, so it will be interesting to see what happens with this site.

The affiliate content that I published this month is lower competition stuff as well.

And quick reminder, I enabled Humix on this site earlier in the year but didn’t upload any videos – instead I’m only earning from other people’s videos that show up on my site.

Here’s how much this site earned via Humix for the month –

humix site 1

You’ll notice that this is double what the site made from Humix in the previous month.

Pretty much double the total plays, as well.

Yet, overall site traffic only increased by ~300 visits this month.

So, that’s something interesting.

Even so, still of the opinion that using Humix without uploading videos isn’t much of a game changer unless you end up with loads of traffic.

Here’s what the overall income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:

site 1 revenue
  • Ezoic: $9.17
  • Amazon: $31.50

Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.

Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.

Site 2: Religion/Spirituality Niche

As you’ve likely come to expect, I STILL have not changed the domain for this site like I wanted to do a few months back.

I’m STILL second guessing the change since site #1 had some issues after the domain change.

In fact, I’m even considering just started a second site on that other domain and merging them together later.

site #2 May ezoic revenue

So, I only managed to get two new posts up on this site during May because I was having some recurring health issues – the short story is epic migraines, but I’m getting all sorts of tests from my neurologist to hopefully stop those.

Anyways, the small number of posts isn’t ideal – especially since traffic is growing on this site – but that’s life, eh?

As you might guess, that means my plan for new videos on Humix and this site’s YouTube channel went down in flames.

Here’s how much this site earned from Humix with the two videos that I uploaded a couple of months ago –

Humix site 2 may

That’s almost double earnings over the previous month, with only ~1,200 more total plays.

My Big Data Analytics was crapping out when I was trying to get screenshots, so I had to do this hard way.

First up – revenue from just my own videos that played on my site only –

humix 2 owned vid revenue

Next up, revenue from other people’s videos that played on my site –

humix 2 displayed revenue

And finally, revenue from my videos playing on other people’s sites –

humix 2 shared vid revenue

Not sure why it doesn’t add up to $1.01, but oh well.

I do want to remind you that the content on this site (since December 2022) is AI-assisted content.

Initially, I was getting a little from chatGPT, a little from Jasper and then I run it through Quillbot’s Creative setting before editing it myself.

Though lately I’ve been re-working my process so that I can get content done faster and then be able to just hire someone to do the whole process for me. (I’ll share this at a later date!)

I’m also using the content optimizer feature in Scalenut to tweak things even more. You can also use something like Frase for this.

All in, this is only taking me around 15 minutes to get an article that I can publish – not including popping to Canva to make my featured image.

Currently 70% of my top 10 articles on this site are AI-assisted content.

Here’s what the income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:

site 2 revenue may
  • Ezoic: $12.30
  • Amazon: $0.00

Oh look, the EPMV actually increased!

So, traffic is up, EPMV is up, and income is up – all things I like to see.

Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.

Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.

Site 3: Food/Drink Niche #2

In May, traffic seems to have increased by a teensy bit.

This is despite my migraines preventing me from getting any new work done on this site for the month.

site 3 may ezoic

So, there’s no real insights when it comes to this site since I didn’t do any work on it.

Here’s what the income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:

site 3 revenue May ezoic
  • Ezoic: $10.74
  • Amazon: $8.56

It’s worth noting that while traffic was a up a little, the EPMV and earnings were down for the month.

I really gotta get more content up to get this site back on the right track.

Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.

Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.

Site 4: Tech/Gaming Niche

On May 1st, I decided to remove this site from Ezoic to see if I could earn more from AdSense ads.

Here is the only money this site made from Ezoic before I switched to AdSense –

site 4 revenue - ezoic

And here is what the earnings look like from AdSense for the rest of the month –

site 4 revenue - adsense
  • Ezoic: $0.63
  • AdSense: $38.88
  • Amazon: $6.27

Well…it made more money despite a small traffic drop. And yes, RPMs should be higher in May than April – I know this.

But, at least for now, this site is no longer on Ezoic and you won’t see it mentioned here again (except maybe at year end?).

And yes, four new posts were added to this site in May.

Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.

Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.

Site 5: Outdoors Niche

As you might guess, this site was also a victim of my frequent migraines in May.

A total of zero posts were published on this site.

site 5 ezoic may

And yet, the traffic and EPMV both increased for this site in May, which resulted in almost double Ezoic earnings compared to the previous month.

Here’s what the income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:

site 5 revenue May ezoic
  • Ezoic: $18.07
  • Amazon: $23.67

Happy to see that everything is trending in the right direction with this one – maybe Google has finally figured out what to do with this site.

Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.

Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.

Site 6: Gardening Niche

If you recall, this site first entered these monthly updates in April, so this is only it’s second month on Ezoic.

Since this site has been taking off like crazy, I spent most of the time I had without migraines grinding out content for this site.

I managed to get up a total of 18 new posts to the site – a healthy mix of affiliate and informational content.

The affiliate content is using high converting Lasso product boxes.

And I used Scalenut (use code FOREVER20 to save 20% after the free trial!) to optimize these articles. You can also use something like Frase for this.

site 6 ezoic may

Compared to the previous month, this site’s traffic, EPMV, and revenue all increased.

It looks like around 2,000 more visits, and around a $1.00 increase in EPMV.

But honestly, I was expecting more of an EPMV increase in this niche.

Here’s what the income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:

site 6 revenue ezoic
  • Ezoic: $222.77
  • Amazon: $268.40

Ideally the traffic will double real soon and I can get it on AdThrive as a second site and see how those RPMs stack up….unless someone wants to make me an offer on this site right now 😏

Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.

Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.

Looking Ahead

Ideally, June will see my migraine issues managed so that I can get to pumping more content into site #6 to get that traffic up to 30K pageviews!

I still need to work on a disavow file for site #3.

And I still need to get back to making videos for site #2.

Otherwise, I’ll just (hopefully) be focused on content creation.

If you want more details on how I use Ezoic’s Big Data Analytics to form my content strategies, check out this three-part case study.

And if you’re not yet using Ezoic on your site, then why not sign up and make some sweet internet monies?

  1. I have an entertainment based site which is using ezoic advertising and another which uses ezoic without advertising. I get good income if I can increase the search traffic as it overall ecpm is much better than adsense which you can use mediation with anyway. The gardening one looks like a hard to grow site but very profitable if you can get the right type of visitors to the site but it’s a lot of work.
