Ezoic Earnings: March 2023 Niche Site Income Report

As mentioned when I started these monthly updates, I’m publishing these new income reports on the last day of each month to get fresh data your way.

Plus, it helps keep me accountable to you…because we all know that I will procrastinate on getting these written up.

Also, I want to remind you that these Ezoic sites of mine are smaller sites, which means these monthly updates should be easier for new site builders to follow along with (as well as those of you who are building sites with limited time).

I also want to note that I spent all of March running a Humix test on two of these sites.

Note: The sites in this report are only a portion of my portfolio and not the only sites that bring in revenue.

**And as always, I’m an affiliate marketer and this post contains affiliate links, meaning I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my link.

Site 1: Food/Drink Niche

For March, I’d set a personal goal to reach 10 new articles published on this site – and I did it!

I ended up doing 8 info articles based on NicheIQ topic suggestions and 2 affiliate-focused articles based on competitor research.

I really need to get more affiliate content up to take advantage of these high converting Lasso product boxes.

Since I had indexing issues last month, I went ahead and used Search Console to request indexing after publishing each article.

And I used Scalenut (use code FOREVER20 to save 20% after the free trial!) to optimize these articles.

I’m not sure if it’s clear in the image above, but the EPMV for this site has actually dropped since last month!

So while traffic on Ezoic was up, the overall income isn’t up by as much.

That’s bonkers.

Daily traffic for this site is still not what it was before the domain name change, which is annoying.

At this point though, it’s difficult to know what to blame since we’ve had the core update and the other update before that.

I have no intention of reverting back to the old domain, so I’m just hoping things start moving in the right direction.

I still have some domains that I got from GoDaddy Auctions for 301 redirects that I need to start pointing at this site and see what happens.

I’ve also enabled Humix on this site, though I’m only showing other people’s videos and have not uploaded any.

Income from this has been disappointing.

Here’s what the overall income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:

site 1 march epmv
  • Ezoic: $9.86
  • Amazon: $15.62

Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.

Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.

Site 2: Religion/Spirituality Niche

So, I still have not changed the domain for this site like I want to do, and now I’m kinda conflicted on it because the algo update boosted this site a bit.

Google Analytics is showing a 10% traffic boost compared to the previous 30 days – and the boost kicked in on March 15th.

And Ezoic also shows the traffic increase.

Hopefully, this upward trend sticks – but it still leaves me at a crossroads with changing this domain.

For now though, I’ll leave things as they are and see how it continues to grow.

Part of this traffic growth may be a result of me adding Pinterest and Facebook to my publishing routine – each time I publish a new post, I pin it and post a link on the site’s Facebook page.

Social traffic didn’t really increase for me all that much – around 13 pageviews – but I expect to see that change in the future.

As with site #1, my personal goal for this site was to get 10 new articles published – and I did!

I also managed to publish two new videos to Humix and my brand new YouTube channel for this site. (the channel is branded for the new domain, which I now may not use!)

And yes, the content on this site is still part of my AI-assisted content experiment.

Just a quick refresh on that – I get a little from chatGPT, a little from Jasper and then I run it through Quillbot’s Creative setting before editing it myself.

I’m also using the content optimizer feature in Scalenut to tweak things even more.

All in, this is only taking me around 15 minutes to get an article that I can publish – not including popping to Canva to make my featured image.

Since this is an experiment, I’m keeping a close watch on how they’re ranking.

Over the last 30 days, four of these articles are in my top 10 in Google Analytics.

While traffic is picking up for this site, the new content still isn’t getting enough traffic yet for me to come to any conclusions about its revenue potential.

So, I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing here and keep an eye on my EPMV for these new articles.

Here’s what the income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:

site 2 march epmv
  • Ezoic: $12.05
  • Amazon: $0.00

EPMV is up a decent amount and the revenue is basically doubled over the previous month.

Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.

Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.

Site 3: Food/Drink Niche #2

Not only did I manage to hit my goal of 10 new posts published on this site in March, but I also crossed the 50 lives posts mark for this site.

Though I still haven’t taken the time to look for new affiliate programs, I did do a better job of publishing affiliate-focused content.

In fact, half the new posts for March were affiliate-focused with those awesome Lasso product boxes.

site 3 march eazoic earnings

This site saw a crazy spike in Google Analytics one day last week from referral spam, which has totally screwed my data there.

But it looks like Big Data Analytics in Ezoic doesn’t suffer from this problem – instead it’s showing a roughly 22% drop in pageviews.

So, that’s something I need to investigate further so I can determine what’s going on there.

Here’s what the income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:

site 3 march epmv
  • Ezoic: $12.05
  • Amazon: $0.00

As you can see, both EPMV and revenue are down for the month, which is odd with this being the last month of the quarter.

Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.

Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.

Site 4: Tech/Gaming Niche

Since this site seems to be favored by Google right now, I’ve been putting most of my focus here.

I managed to get a crazy 17 new articles published on this site – but they are shorter articles, so don’t be too impressed!

And yes, all tech focused since that seems to be doing well for this site right now.

Still all informational focused topics as well.

site 4 march ezoic

Traffic is inching back up, but this shitty EPMV is just killing me.

How the hell (in the final month of the quarter) is it dropping?!

It should have a higher EPMV than the previous month. Madness.

Two steps forward, three steps back, eh?

Here’s what the income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:

site 4 march epmv
  • Ezoic: $36.63
  • Amazon: $6.53

And wtf is going on with this low EPMV?!

Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.

Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.

Site 5: Outdoors Niche

I fell into a bit of a competitor research blackhole for this site and only managed to get 7 new posts live on it for the month.

My goal was 10 new posts, but I’m cutting myself some slack since I got more than 10 live for site #4 this month.

Most of these new posts are low competition informational topics where I’m essentially seeing what Google does with the site.

The rest were affiliate focused using those kickass Lasso product boxes that convert so well.

Since I launched this site with ~200 posts spread across a variety of related sub-niches, I think Google is having a hard time knowing what to do with it.

The good news is that traffic seems to be up a decent amount right now compared to the previous month, so at least things are heading in the right direction.

Though that could just mean that my previous indexing issues are gone.

Since I had indexing issues last month, I went ahead and used Search Console to request indexing after publishing each article this month.

Here’s what the income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:

site 5 march epmv
  • Ezoic: $9.86
  • Amazon: $13.40

Oh look, another EPMV drop for the month.

Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.

Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.

Looking Ahead

I think I’m going to start sounding like a broken record here, but I’m still focusing on fresh content for these sites in April.

My small goal is 10 new posts for each site, with my stretch goal being 30 posts for site #4 since it’s the one with the most promise out of these right now.

I don’t know that I’ll actually have time for that much content creation, but I’m gonna try it!

I’ll also create some more videos for site #2 to put on Humix and YouTube.

And I expect to have a new site in this update next month.

In fact, I’ve already added site #6 to my Ezoic account, but ads aren’t showing yet as I’m waiting on Google Ad Manager approval.

This site is currently making around $50/mo in AdSense with ~4,000 monthly sessions so it will be interesting to see how that changes with Ezoic.

  1. Just finished listening to your interview on the Niche pursuits podcast and I have to say it was one of the most insightful episodes I saw (and I’ve watched quite many).

The income reports are very motivational and help pushing forward in some of the unknown niches I’m trying lately.
