Ezoic Earnings: November 2023 Niche Site Income Report

Seems like it was just yesterday that I was publishing my October report, so it’s bananas that we’ve already had Black Friday and now tomorrow is December 1st.

Other than Black Friday, I think the biggest things going on with these sites are the 26-day rollout (it was 26 days, right?) of the November Core update + that new Universal Player was rolled out by Ezoic…and auto-turned on for all sites.

ezoic universal player on

Y’know what though? I left that shit on just to see what happens.

Luckily for me, these aren’t my bread and butter earners, so I can test like that.

I have no idea how that little experiment has turned out, so we’ll be finding out together as I write this up.

As mentioned when I started these monthly updates, I’m publishing these income reports on the last day of each month to get fresh data your way.

Plus, it helps keep me accountable to you…because we all know that I will procrastinate on getting these written up.

Also, I want to remind you that these Ezoic sites of mine are smaller sites, which means these monthly updates should be easier for new site builders to follow along with (as well as those of you who are building sites with limited time).

With these being my lower earning sites, they never really get the priority that they deserve. (understatement of the century)

But still, small amounts of work compound over time.

Note: The sites in this report are only a portion of my portfolio and not the only sites that bring in revenue.

**And as always, I’m an affiliate marketer and this post contains affiliate links, meaning I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my link.

Site 1: Food/Drink Niche

Would you be impressed with me if I told you that I actually got a handful of posts up on this site?

Cause I did!

Though traffic appears to be stagnant for the most part, with recent days maybe picking up a bit?

site1 traffic nov

But what looks really good right now is the RPM increase that this site has seen.

From $7.75 to over $13.00 — BOOM!

Shame the site wasn’t getting more traffic to really capitalize on this.

And quick reminder, I enabled Humix on this site earlier in the year but didn’t upload any videos – instead I’m only earning from other people’s videos that show up on my site.

Here’s how much this site earned via Humix for the month –

humix overview site 1 nov

So, that’s around 1,500 more plays this month and around $2.00 more in revenue.

Clearly this RPM also spiked. Likely quite a bit.

And good news, I’m no longer seeing irrelevant videos in my list of top trending videos.

Looking at Big Data Analytics, my video earnings really spiked started November 21st…which coincides with Universal Video Player being rolled out…wonder if that is being reported under Humix ‘total video revenue’ in BDA?

humix big data analytics

I need to dig into BDA and investigate this more. Maybe I’ll do a separate blog post on it.

Anyways, here’s what the overall income for the last 30 days looks like for this site in Big Data Analytics:

site 1 nov ezoic rev
  • Ezoic: $50.00
  • Amazon: $26.80

The affiliate content on this site is using high converting Lasso product boxes.

And I’ve been using Scalenut (use code FOREVER20 to save 20% after the free trial!) to optimize these articles. You can also use something like Frase for this.

Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.

Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.

Site 2: Religion/Spirituality Niche

I also managed to get up a few new posts on this site, but still have a ton in draft mode.

Fortunately, this is an evergreen niche, so while I’m missing out on Q4 RPMs by not getting those drafts live, it won’t affect traffic.

Speaking of traffic, it seems to still be on the downward trend here.

site2 traffic nov

GA4 is showing a drop of around 14% in pageviews compared to previous 30 days.

So, yeah, what’s that – three months of consecutive drops?

This site needs backlinks, which I already knew but haven’t had time to deal with yet.

Anyways, EPMV for this site also increased, though not by the same amount as site #1 above.

I also still (…yes, still) didn’t get around to making any new videos for this site’s YouTube channel or Humix.

Here’s how much this site earned from Humix with the two videos that I uploaded a earlier in the year –

humix overview site 2 nov

So, earnings almost doubled compared to October, but plays only increased 3%.

I’ll take it!

And here’s the breakdown by type of play –

humix overview2 site 2 nov

Interesting to note that my own videos had a decrease in both revenue and plays, while the opposite is true for network videos.

Still makes me wonder if Universal Player videos are being tracked/counted here. Seeing the same time period for the earnings picking up.

And the views for my own videos drop when the third-party ones rise. Weird.

Here’s what the income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:

Big Data Analytics site 2 nov
  • Ezoic: $32.52
  • Amazon: $0.00

Small rise in earnings and EPMV.

Still not gotten any affiliate content up on this site cause it’s just a tricky one with things to promote.

And I used Scalenut (use code FOREVER20 to save 20% after the free trial!) to optimize these articles. You can also use something like Frase for this.

Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.

Site 3: Food/Drink Niche #2

Again, I did actually manage to get some new posts up on this site. Just like three though, but better than nothing.

Did the fresh content give this site new life?

site3 traffic nov

GA4 is showing a little over a 16% increase in pageviews. I suspect this is a positive boost from one of the recent (many) updates.

EPMV went up again, but only by a couple of dollars.

Here’s what the income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:

site3 epmv nov
  • Ezoic: $16.93
  • Amazon: $49.47

So, boost in ad revenue and a bump in affiliate revenue for the month. Hooray!

The affiliate content is using high converting Lasso product boxes.

Site 4: Tech/Gaming Niche

This site is no longer on Ezoic.

Site 5: Outdoors Niche

Guess what? This site also got a handful of new posts!

But let me tell you, this site took a BEATING in the SERPs…again.

site5 traffic nov

Third consecutive month of the traffic dropping.

GA4 has it down another 24% this month. oof.

I suppose I should dig into that, but I suspect it’s just a lack of backlinks.

Bright side? EPMV is up just a teensy bit.

Here’s what the income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:

Big Data Analytics site 5 nov
  • Ezoic: $8.48
  • Amazon: $18.06

Ouch. The EPMV boost couldn’t overcome the traffic drop again this month.

But a tiny bit more Amazon monies this month is nice.

The affiliate content on this site is using high converting Lasso product boxes.

And I used Scalenut (use code FOREVER20 to save 20% after the free trial!) to optimize these articles. You can also use something like Frase for this.

Site 6: Gardening Niche

This is the only site that didn’t get any new content.

I don’t know this niche well, so I don’t know how much of the drop is seasonality and how much is getting hit by an update (updates?).

But I assume most of the drop is algo update related.

site6 traffic nov

GA4 says it’s down a crazy 51% from the previous 30 days. That’s on top of a 57% drop in the last report.

Holy shit. That is definitely the result of getting hit by likely more than one update.

I should really look into this more when I get a chance.

Here’s what the income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:

site6 epmv nov
  • Ezoic: $26.74
  • Amazon: $27.87

Holy shit that’s a hell of a drop from where this site was in the summer (and before all these updates).

The affiliate content is using high converting Lasso product boxes.

And I used Scalenut (use code FOREVER20 to save 20% after the free trial!) to optimize these articles. You can also use something like Frase for this.

Looking Ahead

It’s been clear for a while that most of these sites need backlinks, and the drops in traffic that are ongoing just confirm that.

When things slow down a bit for them, I’ll have the Growth Cupid team get started on building high DR backlinks for these sites. (save 10% with code SKIPBLAST)

Most, if not all, of these sites are ripe for Pinterest and Facebook traffic. That’s been a big focus for me this year, along with YouTube, for many of my other sites.

Anyways, I’ll be doing more investigating on that whole Ezoic Universal Player thing to see if I can tell if it’s actually benefiting my bottom line or not.

If you want more details on how I use Ezoic’s Big Data Analytics to form my content strategies, check out this three-part case study.
